School Academic Performance
At Harbour Pointe Preparatory Academy, we believe academic excellence is built on high expectations, strong instruction, and accountability for results. We are committed to transparency so families understand how we measure success and how we continuously work to improve.
How We Measure Performance
- State Standards & Assessments – Students are taught the Florida B.E.S.T. Standards and participate in state assessments (FAST, FSA/EOC, and other required measures).
- Growth Over Time – We focus on both achievement (meeting grade-level benchmarks) and growth (individual student progress from year to year).
- Multiple Measures – In addition to state testing, we monitor student progress through classroom assessments, curriculum-based measures, and performance tasks.
- Whole-Child Development – Academic success is balanced with character, leadership, and social-emotional growth.
School Performance Framework
As a Florida public charter school, Harbour Pointe’s performance is evaluated under the state’s school grading system, which considers:
- Student achievement in English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies
- Learning gains across grade levels
- Progress for students with the lowest 25% of performance
- Middle school acceleration (advanced coursework and high school credit opportunities)
- Graduation readiness indicators (for schools with high school grades)
The Florida Department of Education publishes annual report cards for every school, showing results across these measures.
Our Commitment to Excellence
- Continuous Improvement – Data is used not just for accountability, but to inform instruction, interventions, and enrichment. Teachers and leaders meet regularly to review student progress and adjust strategies.
- Targeted Support – Through Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), we ensure struggling students receive timely interventions while advanced learners are extended and challenged.
- Family Communication – Families receive regular updates on both schoolwide performance and their child’s individual growth, including progress reports, report cards, and data nights.
- Transparency – Performance information is shared openly with families and the community in accordance with state law.
Looking Ahead
Our goal is for Harbour Pointe Preparatory Academy students to not only meet but exceed state standards, preparing them for success in high school, college, and careers. Academic performance is one way we measure our impact—but our true mission is to cultivate confident, capable, and compassionate leaders for the future.
