Student Code of Conduct

Student Code of Conduct

At Harbour Pointe Preparatory Academy, we believe that a safe, respectful, and orderly environment is essential for learning. Our Student Code of Conduct sets clear expectations for behavior and responsibility, ensuring every student can learn, grow, and thrive.

Guiding Principles

Our Code of Conduct is built on our Compass Values:

  • Service – Supporting and helping others
  • Teamwork – Working together respectfully
  • Achievement – Striving for personal and academic success
  • Respect – Treating others, ourselves, and our environment with dignity

General Expectations

  • Arrive on time and prepared for class
  • Follow school and classroom rules
  • Treat others with kindness and respect
  • Care for school property and materials
  • Follow directions from teachers and staff
  • Resolve conflicts peacefully and responsibly

Behavior Standards

  • Respect for Others: No bullying, harassment, or discrimination of any kind will be tolerated.
  • Safe Choices: Weapons, drugs, tobacco, and unsafe items are prohibited.
  • Academic Integrity: Students are expected to be honest in all academic work.
  • Digital Responsibility: Technology must be used safely, responsibly, and for educational purposes only.

Discipline & Consequences

When rules are broken, our approach is:

  • Prevention & Intervention – Staff work with students to correct behavior and reinforce expectations.
  • Progressive Discipline – Repeated or serious offenses may result in escalating consequences, including parent contact, loss of privileges, detention, suspension, or referral.
  • Restorative Practices – Students may be asked to reflect, repair harm, and restore relationships.

Rights & Responsibilities

  • Students have the right to learn in a safe, supportive environment and the responsibility to respect others’ rights.
  • Parents/Guardians have the right to be informed about their child’s education and the responsibility to partner with the school in reinforcing positive behavior.
  • Staff have the right to work in a safe environment and the responsibility to model and enforce the Code of Conduct consistently.
